Compare direct Sanyo Shinkansen departures such as Nozomi, Mizuho and Sakura. Other services or connections may also appear. Check the stops, transfer count and total journey time in your selected result.

If using a nationwide JAPAN RAIL PASS, check the conditions for the exact service. Nozomi and Mizuho require the eligible NOZOMI MIZUHO Ticket together with a valid pass. Regional passes have different coverage.

Departure and arrival stations

Board at Shin-Osaka, not Osaka Station or Namba. Allow time to find the Sanyo Shinkansen gates and your platform. Hiroshima Station connects with local JR trains, streetcars and buses; onward travel to Miyajima requires separate transport.

Planning a Miyajima connection

Continue by local JR train to Miyajimaguchi and then take the ferry. The Shinkansen does not travel directly to the island.

Seat reservations and oversized baggage

Reserve in advance when you need adjacent seats, a specific departure or an oversized baggage space. Nozomi trains operate with all seats reserved during designated major peak periods; check the official notice for your travel dates.

For a suitcase whose length, width and height add up to more than 160 cm and no more than 250 cm, reserve a seat with an oversized baggage space on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen. Baggage exceeding 250 cm in total dimensions cannot be brought on board. Other size, length and weight limits also apply; check the official baggage guidance for your item.

From booking to boarding

Confirm the travel date, boarding station, destination and selected train. Read the change and cancellation conditions and check the ticket delivery instructions before completing your booking.

Follow the collection and boarding instructions supplied for your issued ticket. A booking confirmation or collection code is not automatically a ticket that opens the gate. Check whether collection is required, and confirm the train, carriage and seat details before boarding.
